Make Your Own Bath Salts

EveryLastPenny.com reader Negin A. writes :

If you enjoy a nice warm bath at the end of a long day to soothe your achy muscles and drain the stress away, you must know about the high prices of bath products!

However, you don't have to give in to the outrageous prices that the beauty companies charge for their pretty bottles and brand names to enjoy the benefits of soothing bath salts.

You can buy regular sea salt at your local grocery store or pharmacy which are usually available in 1 or 2 kilogram packages and use a handful in your bath water. The salt helps to relieve muscle aches and give you that sense of relaxation. If you prefer the full experience, use few drops of your favorite essential oils in the bath as well for the relaxing aromas and sense of well-being. Mind you, essential oils aren't cheap but a small bottle goes a long way if used conservatively. It beats the price of a small container of brand-name bath salts which can only be used once.

If you want to get more creative with your bath products, there are many recipes for home made bath salts available on the internet. With some personal touches, this could also be a good idea for some inexpensive gift giving!

Thanks Negin A. for the great tip! There are indeed recipes on the internet for home made aromatic bath salts and they can be found Here and Here. These recipes call for "epsom salt" which is basically the same as sea salt.
