Save On Hair Cuts And Cosmetic Services

EveryLastPenny.com reader Catherine Y. writes :

Instead of going to some high-end salon or even your regular hair stylist, to save a few bucks on your next hair cut, why not go to a salon school or barber college? Students there are under the watchful eye of their instructors, and hair cuts there are usually a third of what you'd normally pay elsewhere. And if it's just a trim you normally get, how could you go wrong?

Same goes for any type of cosmetic service you wish to receive - manicures at aesthetics schools are $6 compared to the $15-$20 you'd pay at professional spas! And again, they're under the scrutiny of their instructors. You get virtually the same quality service for a fraction of the cost!

Thanks Catherine Y. for the great tip! For the hair stylists/barber schools, I wouldn't let them do anything other than cut hair - we've all heard horror stories about dye-jobs gone bad!
