When you buy new electronics or appliances, don't buy the extended warranty. The manufacturer usually includes at least a 12 month guarantee on the product anyhow.
The salespeople put on a huge push just when you're paying for the product. When you leave the store it leaves a sour feeling to have this extra amount added to the price.
The salesperson is often working on commission and is anxious to sell it to you. They'll give you the argument that if the item quits in two or three years it will be expensive to repair. They will tell you this is a one time offer and that if you don't purchase it now, you can't get it later.
They use these pressure tactics because there are huge profits to be made for them. Just stand your ground and say NO... No thanks.
Most electronics and appliances don't break down in the first few years, and if they do, you can use the money you saved from not
buying the useless extended warranty to pay for it (with money left over.) If the product is going to have a problem, it will usually happen in the first year anyway and the original warranty will pay to have it fixed.
Most consumer laws protect you when you return faulty goods during that first year even if the item doesn't come with a one year warranty so you can insist that they repair or replace it. Remember that the extended warranty will not save you any money in the long run and just say ''No thanks.''
