When re-filling your car's windshield washer reservoir, it is very difficult to avoid spills. It seems like the windshield washer fluid jugs are intentionally designed to make you waste 15% each time you re-fill. At $2 - $4 per jug, that's a lot of wasted money!
This scenario plays out every time: You open the cap on the reservoir, carefully tilt the jug down to begin refilling and glug-glug-glug, a cup or two misses the hole and spills on the floor.
Next time you have an empty windshield washer fluid jug, don't discard it. Use a sharp knife to cut the top off. Voila - a free funnel. Next time you fill up the reservoir, use the funnel and avoid the wasteful spills.
The free funnel has a nice wide opening, so it fits easily into the reservoir spout, and since the funnel is the same shape as the jug of fluid, you can store it conveniently by placing it right over top of your fresh jug.
Apparently, it is even possible to make your own inexpensive windshield washer fluid. I have not tested these recipes, but they can be found Here [ramk.net], Here [floras-hideout.com] and Here [geocities.com].
